Tenselo WTR-022 helps water professionals read a laboratory report before they choose filters, softeners, membranes or disinfection equipment. The calculation keeps each result's unit and qualifier, checks the source and intended use, and records what the sample cannot establish.

What to enter from the water test

Start with the water source, intended use, design flow, inlet pressure and operating hours. Add every reported laboratory value with its own unit. WTR-022 accepts mixed-unit reports, including mg/L, µg/L and mS/cm, and retains less-than qualifiers for non-detect results.

Leave an untested parameter blank. A blank manganese or E. coli result means the evidence is missing. It does not mean the concentration is zero. The calculator also checks the stated hardness basis and can compare a measured total hardness against the value implied by calcium and magnesium.

Worked bore-water interpretation

This static example was run in WTR-022 on 15 September 2026. The bore-water duty is 60 L/min, or 3.60 m³/h, with 350 kPa available pressure and eight operating hours per day. The sample includes pH 7.2, TDS 450 mg/L, turbidity 1.2 NTU, temperature 18 °C and alkalinity 180 mg/L as CaCO3.

Result: the example identifies hardness and iron for further assessment, preserves the arsenic reporting limit and lists the missing manganese and microbiological evidence. It does not clear the water for drinking.

From interpretation to treatment sizing

WTR-022 can propose a preliminary sequence such as sediment filtration, iron removal, softening, activated carbon, membranes or disinfection. Each proposed stage links to its separate sizing calculation. The treatment order still needs review because one stage can affect the next stage's chemistry, pressure and fouling risk.

Continue with water-treatment process selection, water softener sizing, iron and manganese removal, reverse-osmosis design or ultrafiltration sizing.

What a single laboratory report cannot decide

Final equipment selection also depends on seasonal water quality, particle-size distribution, peak and continuous flow, the available backwash supply, waste disposal, material compatibility and the quality required after treatment. The Australian Drinking Water Guidelines provide a management framework rather than a substitute for local regulator requirements, competent review and conditions beyond the source sample.

Questions

Can software interpret a water analysis report?

Tenselo can organise and screen entered results, preserve units and non-detect qualifiers, identify missing evidence and propose preliminary treatment stages. A water professional must review the result and the complete laboratory report.

Can Tenselo tell me which water filter I need?

It can connect the identified water-quality problem to a preliminary treatment stage and a detailed sizing calculator. Final filter and media selection still depends on the full analysis, flow, pressure, variability, waste arrangements and current supplier data.

Does a blank laboratory result mean zero?

No. WTR-022 treats an untested parameter as missing evidence. It does not convert a blank result into a measured zero.

Can Tenselo certify that water is safe to drink?

No. Tenselo is a design aid. It does not replace a complete laboratory program, a drinking-water management plan, regulator requirements or review by a competent specialist.
